Accessibility statement

Last updated: 11 August 2026

This statement applies to the Atomix Educational Trust adult learning website at adultlearning.atomix.ac.uk. It does not cover the main trust website, our colleges' own websites, or the online application system at cedar.atomix.ac.uk, which have their own arrangements.

This website is run by Atomix Educational Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We have also tried to make the wording as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We believe most of this website is accessible, but we know about the following problems:

  • The website has not yet been independently audited. Our assessment is based on our own checks during the 2026/27 rebuild, not on a formal audit by an external tester or on testing with disabled users.
  • The navigation menu, footer and cookie message are added by JavaScript after the page loads. If JavaScript is turned off or fails to load, those parts of the page will not appear, although the main content of every page still will.
  • Colour contrast has been designed to meet the standard but has not been measured across every combination of text and background on every page.
  • Some photographs are decorative and their descriptions are brief. They do not carry information you would miss if you could not see them.
  • Our online application form is provided by a third party at cedar.atomix.ac.uk. We do not control it and it is not covered by this statement.

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, the "accessibility regulations". If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) on 0808 800 0082.

Technical information about this website's accessibility

Atomix Educational Trust is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, because of the issues listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Where JavaScript does not load, the navigation menu and footer are not present. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.5 (multiple ways). We plan to serve the navigation and footer as part of each page, rather than loading them separately, by 31 December 2026.

Because the site has not been independently audited, there may be other failures we have not yet identified. We are arranging an audit and will update this statement with what it finds.

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Our online application form is hosted by a third party. Third party content that is neither funded nor developed by, nor under the control of, Atomix Educational Trust is exempt from the accessibility regulations. If you have difficulty using it, contact us and we will complete an application with you over the phone.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are arranging an independent accessibility audit of this website. Once we have the findings we will publish a plan with dates against each issue, and update this statement. In the meantime we test new pages against the WCAG 2.1 AA criteria as we build them.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 11 August 2026. It was last reviewed on 11 August 2026.

This website was last tested on 11 August 2026. The test was carried out internally by Atomix Educational Trust, using automated checks and manual keyboard testing across a sample of pages covering the homepage, a course page, a pathway page and the funding and support pages. It was not tested by an external organisation or with assistive technology users.
