Inclusive learning support for every student
We treat everyone as an individual and are committed to helping all students achieve their full potential. Our comprehensive support services ensure that every adult learner, regardless of their circumstances or learning needs, can succeed in their educational journey.
Our commitment to inclusive education
At Atomix Educational Trust, we believe that every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed. Whether you're returning to education after many years, managing work and family commitments, or have specific learning needs, our dedicated support team is here to help you overcome any barriers and achieve your educational goals.
Individual learning needs assessment
We recognise that every learner is unique, with individual strengths, challenges, and learning preferences. Our comprehensive assessment process ensures that you receive the personalised support you need to succeed in your studies.
Initial assessment in English and maths
Every learner completes an initial assessment at the start, so we know your current level in English and maths. This is not a test you can fail. It tells us where you are, so we can pitch your support correctly and, if it would help, get you onto a Functional Skills course alongside your main qualification.
An individual learning plan for every learner
Every learner has an individual learning plan. It sets out your starting point, your targets, the support you have agreed, and any reasonable adjustments you need. Your tutor reviews it with you as you go, so it stays useful rather than sitting in a drawer.
One to one learning assessment
You can request a confidential one-to-one interview and assessment of your learning needs. This comprehensive evaluation helps us understand your individual requirements, learning style, and any specific support that would benefit your studies. Our qualified assessors take time to understand your circumstances and create a personalised support plan.
Learning difficulties and disabilities support
If you have a learning difficulty and/or disability, we would welcome the opportunity to meet you before you start your course. This gives you the chance to discuss the type of help you need to ensure you get the most out of your learning whilst at college. Our support covers a wide range of needs including dyslexia, autism, ADHD, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities.
Personalised learning plans
Based on your assessment, we create individual learning plans that outline specific support strategies, reasonable adjustments, and resources tailored to your needs. These plans are regularly reviewed and updated throughout your studies to ensure they continue to meet your evolving requirements.
Ongoing Support review
Your support isn't set in stone. We regularly check in with you to ensure your support plan remains effective and adjust it as needed. Whether your needs change or you discover new challenges, our team is always ready to adapt your support to help you succeed.
What every learner gets
A college email address and Microsoft Teams
You get a college email address and access to Microsoft Teams, so you can reach your tutor, pick up resources and take part wherever you are studying. Your college email address also gets you student discounts in a lot of places, which is worth having.
A lanyard and ID
Every learner is issued with a lanyard. It identifies you on site and is your proof of student status.
Transport to site
If your course needs you to be on site, you can use the college bus. Talk to us about routes and times, and about the learner support available towards travel costs on our funding page.
Comprehensive accessibility services
Our facilities and services are designed to be accessible to all learners. We've invested significantly in ensuring that physical barriers don't prevent anyone from accessing high-quality adult education.
Physical accessibility features
Most parts of our colleges are accessible to students with mobility difficulties. Our facilities include designated parking spaces close to entrances, automatic doors throughout the buildings, ramps and accessible routes, lifts to all floors, and fully accessible toilets with appropriate facilities. All our learning spaces are designed with accessibility in mind.
Hearing and communication Support
Our reception points are equipped with hearing loops to assist students with hearing difficulties. We can arrange British Sign Language interpreters for lessons and meetings when required. Communication support also includes note-taking services and assistive listening devices for classroom use.
Alternative format materials
Information and learning materials can be produced in alternative formats on request, including Braille, large print, high-contrast formats, and audio versions. We work with you to determine the most suitable format for your needs and ensure all course materials are accessible to you.
Campus facilities and amenities
Our accessible facilities extend beyond classrooms to include comfortable social spaces with hot and cold drinks facilities, accessible vending machines, and water fountains at appropriate heights. Rest areas are available throughout our campuses for students who need regular breaks during their studies.

Mental Health and wellbeing Support
Our qualified wellbeing practitioners provide confidential support for students experiencing mental health challenges, stress, anxiety, or other emotional difficulties. We offer individual counselling sessions, stress management workshops, and connections to specialist external services when needed.
Financial and practical guidance
Our student support team provides practical guidance on managing finances during your studies, accessing childcare support, understanding benefit implications of returning to education, and connecting with community resources that can help with practical challenges.
Flexible Learning arrangements
We work with you to create flexible learning arrangements that accommodate your personal circumstances. This might include adjusting attendance patterns, providing catch-up support after absences, or arranging alternative ways to complete course requirements when life challenges arise.
Peer Support networks
Connect with other adult learners through our peer support groups and study circles. These informal networks provide mutual support, shared experiences, and practical tips for managing adult learning challenges. We facilitate these connections while respecting individual privacy preferences.
